Genalguacil

It was a great day, this is the weather we signed up for. We slept in, had breakfast, walked the dogs then sat on the terrace in the sun for a while reading books. After lunch we decided to head off to Genalguicil - across the Genal Valley. This is a lovely little town, we've never been before but it gets very good reviews. It's full of artists and their art.

We stopped on the road to take this picture of the town we were heading for, it's not far but takes a while on the back roads.

Just for you Jutwallah, this is the famous haircut. Susan drove into town, it was really tight and in some places it was so tight I didnt think we'd make it but she did very well and we eventually found the car park - the clutch was stinking! Note for the future, park on the outskirts of town.

After parking, we took the dogs and walked up into town, this was the first arty thing we spotted, the fountain of horses heads.

Not sure of this flowr, I'm sure Sandy will tell us!

Another statue in the fountain.

This is the view over the town to the other side of the valley, it's looking south and I'd expected to see Gibraltar but it's not there, must be behind a hill.

We walked up these steps, there was a buzz around town and I think the festival must be coming soon.

Another of the steps.

Looking back down the steps.

We stopped for a drink - the bar was full of old men playing cards and dominos, it was good to see but the barman was grumpy. I figured out why, no one is buying drinks!

We carried on through the town, again looking south, freshly painted walls and Cacti
This is a Lilly of some sort we think unless someone thinks otherwise.

Yet another odd fountain thingy.

This might be related to peas, it certainly looks like that althought it was a tree.

This is the first time kids have shown any interest in us or the dogs. These 2 girls came over and asked the dogs names then spent ages clapping them.

Dan and his new pals.

Yet another arty thingy, we didnt see any artists though.

In the town square we were mobbed by the local kids asking about the dogs, one we boy told us he lived in the countryside and had 25 dogs - we didn't believe him though.
Us all in the town square, Jobby came out again. We finished the day with a visit to the graveyard, on the whole people here seem to live into their 90's so that is good news.

We drove back via Jimera to walk the dogs along the tracks there for a while, the river is still too fast for them. Into dia for some Ice cream then home for Dinner. The apprentice is on tonight so we'll watch that.

Nice haircut!

Flower is Linum Perenne Blue Flax, I think.
My book says that it flowers in June, but that is in UK.
