8th June

We managed to get a new phone number for Telefonica, the problem was that you get a quick dial number to contact them, you can only dial this from your telefonica phone, obviously difficult if it does not work. I spoke to an operator who confirmed that the phone was dead – so far so good! He asked for a contact number, explaining I did not have one as it was dead was met with a stony silence. I don't have a Spanish Mobile number so they can't call me back, he has said that an engineer will be with me within 48 hours. Lets hope – Sandy has lots of internetting to do.
We had a walk planned today, round the circuit at the Estacion, a good 6km on flat ground. Susan drove us down to the Estacion and we set off, there is lots of little houses and gardens to look at on this walk so it is a good interesting walk. We stopped to look at some lovely pink flowers and debated what type they were, the lady that owned the house came along and told us that they were Gladioli then proceeded to cut them off and give us them, 2 stems, one for each lady (that's Susan and Mum if you were wondering). It is typical of the Spanish people – they would give some complete strangers the 2 very best flowers in her little window box.
We carried along, past the various houses and barking dogs to the river where the dogs got to run and swim. Just as we walked across the bridge we were met with a load of goats coming towards us, we put the dogs on the leads and walked back. We waited for them to cross so that we could photograph them.
We followed the river and headed back along the track, on the way we stopped to pick some oranges but they were not very good, last years fruit I guess. We met a few dogs, horses and goats before we got back to the car.
After a little rest we went to Atajate for Sunday lunch, it was surprisingly quiet but the food was as good as usual. We had a long and enjoyable lunch then a short walk round the village taking photographs of flower pots as we went.
Home for reading on the terrace and relaxing. Susan and Sandy went to Church, we didn't bother. After Church we met up for Tapas at Fuente, there was a little English Girl there who took a fancy to Dan, he was very good with her and she stroked him for ages.

We took these 3 pics to try and figure out what they are when we got back.
A very neat and tidy allotment in Estacion
The old lady that owned these flowers broke them off and gave them to us, it was a really nice gesture.
If you look closely you can see a tiny puppy on the roof of this shed.

A cat in the shade of a grape vine
The famer fording the river, we might try this in Susan's car!

Goats are so nice, I don't think I can ever eat them again.

Nice Mullets

A great parasol.

Somebody had placed these skeletons in a very barbaric position.
Look clolsely and you'll see a cow in the river getting cool

All the fence posts had snails living on them.
