Saturday 10th May - Ronda

The forecast was light rain and we were not disappointed. We both had a few things that we had to do in Ronda so we took advantage of the weather and headed off to Ronda. On the way we saw that there was a fairly large Army presence on the way, not being aware that we were at war with anyone we carried on regardless.

Ronda was heaving with people, our usual car park was full, cars were everywhere, the Police were trying to control things - with limited success! The Spanish are so inconsiderate as drivers, it amazes me any of them actually manage to pass a driving test.

It transpired that there was some sort of fun run on today in advance of Sundays big BiAthalon, this is organised by the Army and we reckon that they do the fun run today to take advantage of the facilities available for tomorrow. The run was in aid of cancer research so we didnt mind the hold ups.

We parked in the expensive car park, when we drove in there was a Japanese couple in a hire car, he was driving and he pulled up by an empty space, it was obvious that he had no chance of getting in the space at the angle he was at. She got out and waved her arms excitedly for a bit, not really any use as a guide. He drove back and forward, she got more animated and started banging on the window and waving her arms again. We sat patiently laughing. Eventually he pulled forward to get a better angle, by this time there was queue behind us so I nipped in the space and they drove down to the next level. When we got out they were still shouting at each other.

We walked up the stairs and spotted them on the street, still shouting at each other. He walked onto a load of lamps that were on the ground as men were working on the overhead lights, the workies shouted at him but he was oblivious, a few broken bulbs later he eventually got the message.

This is one of the runners waiting for her water at the Army station in the mark.

The soldiers uniforms are not really flattering

We walked up to the old town where Susan replaced her bag that was faulty. We had a coffee in a cafe on the main street, walked to the vet to get more tick stuff. Susan was glad the good looking vet was there. There was some really qute dogs, a dalmation puppy.

We went to the vodafone shop to get the modem but it was queued out so we'll go beack another day. It is communion time so we stopped to see what was happening.

We drove back home and waked the dogs, had lunch, watched a bit of 24 then cleaned the house as John and Jenny are coming round for Chicken tonight. We walked into town to get an onion and somethign for pudding. We walked by the chicken mans house and saw he was having a party so he'll be closed tonight. It must be to do with Communion so yet again religion is interfering with my stomach!

John and Jenny came round and we went next door for dinner instead. It was a really nice meal but despite me asking for my steak well done, a decent vet could have had that back on it's feet no trouble. I swapped with Susan so we both had a mixture of Lamb and Steak.
