After that we went to look at his house, a finca near the edge of town, it's s stunning location but I still dont think it is for them. It is more expensive than the other one and not in such good nick - it was actually filthy, you'd think that if someone is coming to view the house you'd at least pick up the brocolli from the kitchen floor.
He dropped us off in town and we had a drink in La Fuente then went home for lunch. After, we went for a drive round the countryside, we had heard of a house for sale privately so went looking for it. Down by the river we found a house that had a for sale sign up, there was no one around so we took a note of the number then drove on round the track. There was another house with a for sale sign so we stopped and had a look. An old man appeared from next door, he rabbled on in Spanish for a bit and we got the gist that he owned the house and all the land round about. We asked to look round and he shuffled off to get the keys. Susan was worried that a mouse (or worse) might appear and to be honest, there was a good chance of that happening. Just then a car pulled up and 2 women got out, the told us that they also had a house for sale over the railway line and would we go and see it. They pointed to an old shack with no roof so we made our excuses and left.
The house was ramshackle to say the least, a good chance it had mice or rats, we had the cursory look round and tried our best to communicate with the old man. He insisted on taking us into his own house, suggested staying for a drink - we are now his new best friends. He has a friend who is English so we must know her - Obviously. We exchanged phone numbers (I might have accidently made a mistake with mine) and we escaped. He wants 3 million pesetas!
We drove up to Siete Pilas, a strange little place, just a few houses scattered round a dusty old park place but with a brand new doctors surgery and college in the middle. We couldn't find any more houses so set off home. I painted the railing on the bedroom balcony, we seem to have the wrong colour but it'll be ok
