Catching Up

Sorry I missed yesterday.
The Milnes were in Granada and we were meeting them in Ronda in the afternoon. We spent the day cleaning and tidying up. There appeared to be some sort of rally in the town but it transpired that it was just young lads in sooped up cars driving up and down the road to the petrol station - not for us. We bought some fruit and veg at the market and sat in the sun drinking coffee.

After that we drove to Ronda to meet the Milnes from the train, they loved Granada and were keen to see Ronda. We parked under the square and had coffee near the Bull Ring. This was followed by the usual tour over the bridge. We took this pic at the viewpoint by the new bridge.

This building was open and we wandered in, it turned out to be some sort of art display which was not very interesting but it was a pretty building.
We didn't stay long here and headed off to the views of the gorge and the old town.
We walked round the old town, down and over the old bridge then up through the Gardens. Holly was a little hungry so we all stopped for chips at Macdonalds - very healthy. We walked up through the shops and found that a large number were closed as it is Saturday night. We went back to the Parador for drinks then headed out to the Molino for Dinner. It was a lovely meal, the restaurant was very busy with people from Alfa Romeo who were launching a new car in the area.
The next day we drove to Jimera to try and find a new walk with the dogs, We walked a part of the track back to Cortes, it was very hot and the path ran by the river and railway line. This is going to be a good walk locally, as good as the cork forest walk and closer to home. We found a lovely little family picnic area with tables and an ice cream stall which was closed.

Dan was desperate to get into the river but it was a bit stagnant at this point so we kept him out.

We stopped and took this pic at the picnic area, sorry I have chopped Bens bum off!

Just by the railway line we spotted a small golf course, well a few pins and some grass cut short enough to putt on, more like crazy golf. We crossed the railway line and headed up slightly, we met an old man who was saying something about the dogs, we think he was saying something about closing a gate and goats but we didnt really know. Despite our insistance that we didnt understand he kept talking. he only had 2 teeth and 1 eye. No matter that Susan or Pam (who both speak better Spanish than me) said he spoke to me all the time, obviously of the view that women don't count. He had a bag full of what we think were nettles and we think he said they were for Tortilla!

We found this cork tree that had been cut 5 times as it is possible to see the 5 layers from when it has been stripped of bark.

We cought up with the old man again as he was digging up whatever he was collecting, he kindly agreed to pose for me.

On the way back we let the dogs in the water for a bit. they loved it.

These cats were near a house we passed on the way back to the car.

We drove round to the goats we had seen when Mother was out, they are still there and getting a bit bigger.
We dropped the dogs back at the house then went to Atajate for lunch, it was the usual standard and we all enjoyed it. We drove up to Gaucin for a walk round and an ice cream then back to the house for a quiet night.
