2nd April

The Milnes first day with us. We started off with a leisurelybreakfast then took the dogs to the cork forest outside town. This area is normally totally quiet but today, typically it was busy. Firstly there were about 30 forest workers strimming the grass in the woods so the noise was deafening. Then there was a cycle thing in progress so there was landrovers, cars, trailers, ambulances and even a fire engine! We didnt see any cyclists but obviously something was happening. The dogs had to stay on the leads for a while longer than usual.

We walked to the usual turning point 2 miles out, took the photograph below and then returned by the same route.

Holly, Pam, Ian, Susan, Angus.
After a snack lunch in the house we had decided on a trip to the coast, Holly loves El Cortes Inglis so we promised her a trip to Marbella. We took the San pedro road for a change so it was up to Ronda then down the twisty road to the coast, the drive was uneventful and the views were as good as usual, especially as we approached the Med, from this angel you can see both Gibraltar and Africa and also see how close they really are.
We arrived in Puerto Banus and parked in the usual place, had coffee and cakes in El Cortes Inglis then walked down to the port area.

We walked out the walkway to the beach, there was a few people sun bathing and swimming, it was very warm but the sea was pretty cold. We walked out along the harbour walls looking at the boats and fish. I spotted what I was convinced to be a huge Jelly Fish, on closer inspection turned out to be a bit of bubble wrap.

We have never walked the harbour walls here before so it was good to see Puerto Banus from a different angle, this photographs is taken looking south west. The larger boats are moored at the far end which is surprising as the tacky shops are all at that end, the really expensive shops are near the smaller boats.
Ian and Pam like designer shops so they really enjoyed looking at all the expensive shops, we look at the boats. Ian bought a new pair of shorts but that was all.
We went back to El Cortes Inglis, split up and did a bit of shopping. We bought really exciting stuff like bath sponges, shower jel and hoover bags. Pam and Ian bought nothing.
We drove to Laguna Beach - a very expensive trendy bar and resort area, had a drink then headed off to Duquesa for Curry. The meal was as good as ususal, even Holly liked it. We headed back home to the dogs, an early night as we are at the station tomorrow early for Pam and Ian to get the train to Granada for a few days.
