Seeds

It's been an exciting day, lots to write about. The day started off with a discovery that our seeds have sprouted, one set of Tomato seeds are quite well through and a few dill seeds have sprouted too. We keep an eye on them and we're looking forward to picking our own herbs soon.

We walk the dogs then set off for Gib, it's the one thing that Lisa and Tony have said that they want to do, Tony was posted in Gib for 6 weeks years ago so he has been before but Lisa has never been. On the way down we spotted a good car wash - thats the other exciting news. The journey was good and we parked in Spain as usual and walked across the border.
We thought there was going to be a plane landing as they closed the gates but they opened then quickly, no idea what that was about. We walked into Casemates square where we had a snack and coffee before heading for the Rock.

This is Casemates square, the sun was shining and the temperature was high.

Susan was enjoying the sunshine and coffee. As there was 4 of us we hired a taxi for the rock tour. The guy was a good guide and gave us lots of information on the history and area. He drove well which was good.

We stopped at the Jewish Gates - the most southerly point of Gib, unfortunately there is a hotel being built on reclaimed land near to here which spoilt the view a bit. This is the 4 of us.

On the way to St Michaels Cave (Nothing to do with M&S) we stopped to watch some apes, this one was sleeping and I think I woke it up - sorry!

This little one was picking its mother's nose which I thought was a little odd but it was cute.

Inside the caves, lots of Stalagmites and stalactites all lit with different coloured lights, it was not too busy and very interesting. We'd seen it before but it was still good to see it again.

We stopped to look at the scenery, we had a great view over the bay of Algeciras, La Linea and the Airport, we just missed the BA flight leaving. We reckon it would be easy to get into and out of Gib without going through the official border, you just need to swim a few yards.

We went onto the Siege Tunnels, this was the last point on our trip. I was not meant to be up here with this guy I'm sure. The tunnels were interesting. A suggestion - if you go and visit, then don't stop at the exhibits on the way down, head right to the end and stop on the way back. This means you can rest at the viewpoints on the uphill bit.

We had a lunch in the town square, did a bit of shopping then met up with Tony and Lisa to get the bus to Morrisons. I hate myself for this but we had a spend-fest in Morrisons so we're all stocked up with British food now. It's really sad but there are just some things that you can't get in Spain - like really mature cheddar cheese! We got the bus back to the border and headed home.

On the way down, we'd spotted this car wash, the car was filthy so we decided to stop on the way back. It was very refreshing to get the car cleaned, see the before and after shots.

We drove back to a great welcome from the dogs then took them out for a good walk. Tonight we are having a Wii night and tomorrow probably Ronda.
