Mum and Margarets Last Day

It's Mum and Margaret's last day in Spain and Mum wanted to spend it with the dogs so we decided on a treat for them and took them to the coast to run on the beach. When we were in Ronda yesterday we found a little photographic shop and got prints made of the pictures of Margaret and her little fruit man. We took them along to him today but for the first time ever, his shop was closed up. Hopefully he will be back another day and I can hand them in to him.

We set off back down to Estacion and back up the hill towards Gaucin. I'm getting very familiar with that road!

Just below Gaucin we stopped at the viewpoint and took this picture, it was a great day, the sky was clear and the temperature high and climbing. Gaucin is a pretty village from here, it's a pity the cranes spoil the skyline. We set off down to the coast, crossing the toll road, round Manilva and found a car park which was free in Sabinillas - the same place we had been a few days ago.

We let the dogs run for a little while and then went for coffee at the usual place, as always full of Brits, we can't speak as we are perpetuating the situation. Susan and I had to go to BBVA Bank to get Alhambra Tickets for The Milnes when they come to visit us in April. The BBVA don't sell them anymore but it appears that our Bank La Caixa now has the contract. We'll drop into the local branch one day next week.

We walked along the beach towards Duquesa, throwing the ball for the dogs as we went, we think this is THE most favourite thing in the world for 2 collies. The beach had a few people on it, some fishermen mending nets and a few sunbathers / joggers. It was very hot.

We spotted this Jellyfish, not sure if it was dead or not, I prodded it with my shoe but it didnt move but I wasn't taking any chances just in case. The picture does not show the size but I reckon it was about a foot long. The little blob in the top left must be its heart I think.

I was throwing the ball for the dogs, it went in the water just a little too far for them to get, I was preparing to wade out for it when a young topless woman who was nearby went into the sea for it and threw it for the dogs, it was very nice of her but Susan said it would not be appropriate for me to take her photographs for the blog, sorry guys!

This is Mum with her 2 favourite boys, she goes home tomorrow and they will miss her, she has decided to come back out again in May or June which is good news for us all.

We had a snack lunch in Duquesa, it was baking hot and I was worried about the dogs getting too hot so we ate up quickly and headed back. Whilst we had been sitting in the sun we spotted a new boat getting delivered, it looked large and expensive and had arrived on a British lorry, I wonder if it had been bought at the London Boat Show. On the way back we spotted it in the Med, I guess they were trying it out before handing over the cash!

This is the boat.

We had Ice Cream in Sabinillas then headed off to Carrefour as Mum had said she'd buy me a printer for my birthday in May, a little early I know but she'll not be here for my birthday. We tried the car wash but it was closed, we'll try another day.

Carrefour was quiet and we parked underneath in the cool. We bought the printer after a little hassle as Mum didn't have ID with her for her credit card, eventually Margaret stepped in and saved the day. Stupidly I didn't get any paper so I'll need to get some another day.

We drove back home and are heading out for dinner tonight to Santiagos in the town square.

We went to Santiagos only to find it was closed tonight. On the way there we had passed a house that had lots of men hanging around outside. Susan reckons that it might be a funeral as she had seen a hearse going through the town earlier. We think this is what happens here when someone dies, the village congregate outside the house of the deceased, the Women go inside and the Men hang about in the street.

We wandered along to the Maison and had a meal there, who should we see eating there but Santiago, we tried to explain that we had just been to his restaurant but I don't think he understood. It was a good meal and a fitting end to a lovely holiday.
